I began listening to FIONA JOY HAWKINS on Pandora before Apple Music. Her “signature” sound is very inviting, tranquil, and smooth. It’s nice music when I’m re-reading the chapter and need to brainstorm that wonder “what next…” or “how will this play out…” scenarios. SIGNATURE was release back in March 2019 and needs to be added to your #writingtothemusic playlist.
INVISIBLE TRAIN has a celtic sense to it. I love the violin throughout the piece. Around 1:53 you hear a piano slide which is exciting at this point in the piece. I think it fit the piece wonderfully. In my entire playist of #writingtothemusic it’s the first I’ve heard it in a piece. This would be my favorite track on the album. I love the tempo and that slide; it’s just right.
GRACE was a single that came out in March 2019. I love the vocals it’s serene enough not to distract while writing. HAWKINS has Grace chill version on the album where the vocals are a bit clearer. The tempo is very chill. It feels like a segue moving to the next scene adding more to the plot line. I would love for a whole chill album from HAWKINS like this.

SIGNATURE opens with that flute sound calling out to listeners. I love this flute. It has an indigenous feel to it as if it’s calling out to my native roots. The guitar strums are very curious and give it a laid back chill vibe to it. Between the flute and guitar strum, I’m not sure which I love most in a piece. It’s a short, but full of relaxation and I’m going to play it when I’m “warming up” to tackle a chapter.
FAIR AND WHITE is a great ending for this album. I’ve listened to this album a quite a bit over the past week. When I hear this song, I know I’m listening to HAWKINS. This track is very fantasy driven in my honest humble opinion. It has everything epic and everything emotionally charged tone to it.
SIGNATURE is a must add to your #writingtothemusic playlist.
