While I am in the midst of reviving this blog, I stumbled upon a new composer and instrumentalist Bruno Bavota. This is a little shift in what I usually listen to, yet I’m intrigued by in the first piece on his album RE_CORDIS. The entire album is a delight filled with an amazing journey.
The Night of sets up the album. Time is a such a precious thing, and it seems as if it’s passing by while listening to this piece. How does something we measure become the most sought after and precious ting on this planet? Does it really stop? If it does, does this mean we control time? I know these are rather deep questions, but there has to be some answer behind it. This piece adds value of time. The piece can easily be the start of something suspenseful or the start of resolve. The ending leaves you wondering and pondering that very statement.
On this journey, you have to take a moment with Passengers. A little narrative came to mind as I was listening to this piece:
There she goes. After finding her seat, she adjusts her scarf and loosens her coat. She’s warming up to the warmness of the train car. Glancing around noticing the older couple sitting a few rows behind her on the opposite aisle, a business man chatting on his phone about some sales pitch he has to make in a few days, a young teenager scrolling aimless on her phone with her headphones blocking out the world around her. Looking out the window passing all people waving goodbye or looking relieve, she closes her eyes and lets out a breath. She has no idea why she took this trip in the first place. As the train picks up speed, out the window she watches the passing of trees, country side, and even farmlands that stretches out for miles it seems. Clutching her bag, jealousy takes a hold of her. Is she really living? Can she after making such a drastic decision? What happens if she doesn’t follow through? No one on this train has no idea of the lives that surrounds them. Yet, they are all heading in the same direction awaiting different results.
I tell you this piece at the end as this gentle fade that brings you back to the major decision in mind. Did she make it? What about the others?
My favorite piece on this album so far would have to be If Only My Heart Were Wide Like the Sea. It is a stark contrast to the piece before. With its boho aesthetic from the strings at the beginning of the piece. As short as the piece is, it’s wholesome and comforting and y favorite. I would even say it has a little country vibe to it. I’m not a huge country fan, but the strings are nice and relaxing and makes me want to travel on a hillside or open field adventure. It’s simple and sweet.
I have added Bavota’s RE_CORDIS to be writing to the music playlist. I want to hear more from this composer/artist.
